Your Northern Nevada Radiation Oncology Team
Dr. Kos is committed to the practice of radiation oncology and research. A Board Certified Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Kos conducts primary clinical research in stereotactic radiosurgery and high-dose rate brachytherapy for prostate cancer, while practicing radiation oncology at Urology Nevada’s Radiation Oncology Damonte Ranch center. When he is not treating patients or evaluating research findings, Dr. Kos can be found enjoying biking, photography, studying economics, skiing, reading and listening to music.
Bruno Carlini has been in Radiation Oncology for 25 years. He completed his training at the University of Southern California in 1992. During this long career, Bruno has worked in both hospital and freestanding center settings as a staff therapist, locum tenen, dosimetrist, and manager. As Manager of Radiation Oncology, Bruno’s role is to ensure that all aspects of the Radiation Therapy department function properly and that all quality standards are met.
Bruno is happily married and has two wonderful children. In his free time, he is a musician who plays drums, sings and also enjoys skiing and hiking.
Dr. Dongqing (David) Zhang currently works as the Chief Medical Physicist at Urology Nevada/Northern Nevada Radiation Oncology for external beam therapy, brachytherapy (both HDR and LDR), and nuclear medicine using Xofigo Ra-223. Dr. Zhang has eight years of experience in cancer radiation therapy and is board certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
Dr. Zhang got his PhD in Physics in the Department of Physics in 2006 at Ohio State University at Columbus, OH. Then he worked in Medical Physics (first as Postdoc then as Resident) in the Department of Radiation Oncology, James Cancer Hospital, at Ohio State University Medical Center. After graduating from the Medical Physics Residency in 2011, Dr. Zhang worked for two years in Colorado State University as a faculty Medical Physicist.
Before moving to the United States from PR China, David finished his BS degree in Optics at Shandong University in 1995 and MS degree in Physics at Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1999.
Outside of work, David likes table tennis, Taiji, and outdoor activities like hiking.
Laura has been a part of the Urology Nevada and Northern Nevada Radiation Oncology team since 2012. She was born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina where her parents and brother still reside. Before becoming a Radiation Therapist she completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Anthropology with a minor in Art History. She then went on to receive her Associates degree in Radiography before completing her Certificate in Radiation Therapy.
In her free time Laura enjoys making people laugh, being outdoors, running, swimming, crafting, traveling and spending time with her boyfriend and their Chihuahua Lupè.
Derek has been working as a radiation therapist in Reno since 2007 since relocating here from New York. He feels lucky to be able to live and work in the Truckee meadows, and he considers it an honor to provide compassionate care to all of Dr. Kos’ patients.
Averi shares her medical background of 16 years, 7 years being committed to Urology Nevada & Northern Nevada Radiation Oncology. She shares her warm personality and great smile with all our patients. Averi is an island born and raised from Honolulu, Hawaii. She has been married to her husband, James, for 17 years, has four children, and recently welcomed her first grandchild in June. She is a busy wife and mother who dedicates her time to her children's sport events. Averi also enjoys dancing hula, camping, hiking, and traveling.
